A whole bunch collect on B.C. legislature garden to honour Indigenous kids from residential colleges

A ceremony to honour all Indigenous kids from residential colleges who by no means made it dwelling, the survivors, and their households was held in Victoria Tuesday.

“My imaginative and prescient was to have all of the of the nations come collectively,” Cecelia Dick, tradition and tourism supervisor for the Songhees First Nation, instructed International Information. “So I needed to return and sing our songs to assist heal one another.”

She mentioned she began phoning different Nations, asking them for help and that’s how this occasion was born.

“It’s been a really, very tough time for lots of Nations as a result of it’s opened up (wounds) and a few say they need to overlook,” Dick added. “Everybody heals otherwise however it’s at all times been our manner, my manner, to have individuals collect.”
