Port Hope police deploy stun gun after man resisted arrest, pulled knife – Peterborough

Port Hope police say an officer deployed a conducted energy weapon to help within the arrest of a person on Thursday night time.

In line with the Port Hope Police Service, round 10:45 p.m., officers responded to a reported combat in progress on the Ganaraska Resort on Ontario Road.

Police say that as officers tried to arrest one man, he allegedly pulled and pushed the officer away.

He then allegedly grabbed a hard and fast blade knife that was hanging on a wall.

Because of this, police say an officer deployed a stun gun on the person who was then arrested.

Tom Alger, 73, of Port Hope, was charged with assault with intent to withstand arrest and assault a peace officer with a weapon.

He was held in custody and launched on Friday morning with a scheduled court docket look in Cobourg on July 14.
