Johnson says Nato members will stand collectively towards Belarus hijack

Boris Johnson has stated Nato leaders will stand collectively in protest towards the “outrageous” hijacking over Belarus.

There was worldwide condemnation over the detention of journalist Roman Protasevich and his Russian girlfriend, after the flight they have been travelling on was pressured to land in Minsk.

The prime minister was talking alongside Nato Common Secretary Jens Stoltenberg as they met in Downing Avenue forward of a summit of Nato leaders in Brussels in two weeks.

Mr Stoltenberg stated it was necessary that sanctions imposed in response to the incident are “absolutely carried out” and that Nato allies can be trying to “step up additional” of their response.
